Kabul Calls Iran's Attack on Israel 'Legitimate' Defensive Action

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate in a statement declared Iran's recent attack on Israel a legitimate defensive action.

According to the statement, the Islamic Emirate has called on all influential countries in the region and the world to halt the further escalation of the crisis and stop the conflicts in the Gaza Strip.

This comes as Israel's military spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, reports that Iran fired over 300 missiles and drones at Israeli cities.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said that 99 percent of these Iranian missiles and drones have been intercepted and destroyed.

Based on official statistics, so far, 31 Israeli citizens have been injured and hospitalized in these attacks.

“Last night Iran started an attack against Israel and launched more than 300 different threats. The Iranian threat met the Israel Defense Force’s aerial and technological superiority together with a strong fighting coalition that together intercepted most of the threats. We intercepted 99% of the threats launched towards Israel’s territory. This is a very significant strategic achievement,” Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said.

This Iranian attack on Israel occurred two weeks after airstrikes targeted the Iranian consulate in Damascus, the capital of Syria, resulting in the deaths of seven military personnel, including two senior commanders of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Bagheri, warned that if Israel takes further action, their response will be more decisive.

“From our perspective, this operation is over, and we have no intention to continue. However, if the Zionist regime acts against the Islamic Republic either on our soil or at our locations in Syria or elsewhere, our next operations will be much more extensive,” said Mohammad Bagheri.

What are the implications of these conflicts between Iran and Israel for the regional countries, especially Afghanistan?

Tariq Farhadi, an international relations expert, told TOLOnews: “Afghanistan should not become a proxy for any side in this war, and the interim government should focus on resolving Afghanistan’s internal problems.”

“Other wars in the region will cause Afghanistan’s problems to be forgotten, and militant groups in this country will gain more power,” said Sayed Javad Sajadi, a political analyst.

This attack by Iran on Israel has been widely welcomed by the citizens of that country.

An Iranian citizen said: “I have never seen in any country where an attack on another country and war cause happiness among the people. But tonight, people have given up their sleep to come here and show how important this war is for us and how happy we are with this attack on Israel.”

After these attacks, the war cabinet of Israel, chaired by Benjamin Netanyahu, was convened.

"Citizens of Israel, in recent years, and especially in recent weeks, Israel has been preparing for a direct attack by Iran. Our defensive systems are deployed; we are ready for any scenario, both defensively and offensively. The State of Israel is strong. The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) is strong. The public is strong," said Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel.

The United Nations, European Union, United States, Germany, and several other countries have condemned Iran's attacks on Israel, calling them a threat to the peace, stability, and security of the region and the world.

President Joe Biden has also stated that he will meet today with leaders of the G7 countries to give a joint diplomatic response to Iran.
