Sharia Punishment Imposed on Nearly 40 People in Past Month

The Supreme Court of the Islamic Emirate reported the implementation of Sharia punishments on nearly 40 individuals over the past month.

Officials from the Supreme Court stated that these individuals in various provinces have been subjected to Sharia punishments for crimes such as illicit relationships, fleeing from home, and theft, across various provinces.

Abdul Rahim Rashid, the spokesperson for the Supreme Court, told TOLOnews: “During the month of Ramadan, the Supreme Court of the Islamic Emirate has applied the Sharia punishment of whipping, alongside imprisonment, to nearly 40 accused and criminals.”

At the same time, some religious scholars have stated that the application of Sharia rulings on individuals in society is important for the purification of society from evil.

Hasibullah Hanafi, a religious scholar, said: “The execution of Hadd and Qisas according to the laws of Islamic Sharia is necessary for the Islamic system and it is an act of God.”

Another religious scholar, Ahmadullah, also said: “The society becomes a healthy society, and the future of such a society is better because it lives an Islamic life and a life according to the decree of God, which is the salvation of all humanity.”

This comes as the Supreme Court of the country, following the reinstatement of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, carried out executions of five individuals for murder in the provinces of Farah, Laghman, Ghazni, and Jowzjan, which has faced reactions from international organizations.
