Unknown armed men on Tuesday gunned down at least three people traveling on the Herat-Ghor highway, officials confirmed.
According to them, two others were also wounded.
The group had reportedly been travelling from Herat to Daikundi province.
The provincial governor’s spokesman Abdul Hai Khatibi has confirmed the incident and said the armed men stopped their vehicle in Barah Khan area in a suburb of Feroz Koh city in Ghor.
Some reports indicate the armed men also took some travelers hostage. However, Ghor officials said this had happened but the people had been freed.
Taliban have rejected claims of any involvement in the incident.
