Over 2 Billion Afs Worth of Contracts Signed With Companies: MoTCA

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) has signed three contracts valued at over 2 billion Afghanis with private sector entities.

The ministry said that the projects encompass the construction of parking and waiting facilities at Kabul Airport, Teer Park of Aqina Port in Faryab Province, and the Guzara Terminal in Herat Province, and with the implementation of the projects, transportation services will become standardized.

Speaking at a press conference, Hamidullah Akhundzada, the acting minister of Transportation and Civil Aviation said that efforts to change Afghanistan into a regional connectivity center continue.

“We want to change Afghanistan into a regional connectivity hub and in this regard, we have a regular transport strategy and system,” Akhundzada added.

Authorities in MoTCA say that with the implementation of the projects, 3,000 people will be directly and indirectly provided with job opportunities.

According to them, in this solar year, 44 projects related to transport are being implemented.

“InshaUllah, if the land is dedicated, we will start its work in one month or one and half months,” said Fazal Ahmad Hamidi, owner of a company.

“The first project is the construction of the terminal in Herat province with a total cost of 1.7 billion Afs by the private sector,” said Rustum Hafizyar, the Director of Planning, Research and Implementation of the MoTCA.

This comes as a delegation from MoTCA has recently been to Tashkent and met with Uzbek officials about the cooperation in transit between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
