Islamic Emirate, Private Sector Delegation Leaves for Turkmenistan

A delegation from the Islamic Emirate and the private sector, led by Nooruddin Azizi, acting Minister of Commerce and Industry, traveled to Turkmenistan today (Friday).

Azizi is set to participate in an exhibition being held in Ashgabat during this trip.

The acting Minister of Commerce and Industry added that more than 300 Afghan traders will participate in the Turkmenistan exhibition and will display their products. He emphasized that the challenges of traders will also be addressed during this trip.

"High-ranking officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will talk about transit trade and solving the issues and problems of our traders. We also have a big exhibition, with approximately 300 companies accompanying us, including 250 companies from within the country and fifty companies from abroad,” Nooruddin Azizi noted.

Meanwhile, some of the traders participating in the Turkmenistan exhibition said they will display their various products at the event.

"We want to participate in this exhibition in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, and we hope to achieve something from this exhibition,” Mohammad Omar, a trader, told TOLOnews.

"The overall goal of this trip is to access the market, reduce preferential tariffs and transportation costs, solve the visa problem, and market our agricultural products,” Omid Haideri, another trader told TOLOnews.

In the meantime, the Chamber of Industries and Mines said that the Islamic Emirate's delegation will discuss investment opportunities in Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, as well as the development of trade between the two countries, during their trip to Turkmenistan.

"During this trip, there will be discussions about increasing our exports to Turkmenistan. Our imports from Turkmenistan are very high, and we hope that the trade will be balanced,” said Shirbaz Kaminzada, head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Industry and Mines.

Previously, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs had discussed commercial expansion, transit, railway development, starting infrastructure projects, and importing electricity from Turkmenistan with officials of that country during his trip to Turkmenistan.
