Afghanistan to Face Sri Lanka in Asian Cup 2018

The Asia Cup 2018 trophy was unveiled in Dubai on Friday ahead of the September 15 start of the tournament.

Afghanistan will play its opening match against Sri Lanka.

The Asian Cup will run from September 15 to 30 and six teams will take part.

The format of the game is One Day International (ODI).

The trophy was put on display by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Social Development Head Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Cabinet Member and Minister of Tolerance and Emirates Cricket Board Chairman.

The Asia Cup 2018, over a course of a fortnight, will be played across two different venues in United Arab Emirates (UAE) inDubai and Abu Dhabi.

Afghanistan will face Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Group B and will play its opening match against Sri Lanka on September 17.

The tournament is divided into two different groups with India, Pakistan and Hong Kong placed in Group A.

Sri Lanka have won the Asia Cup title on five occasions while Bangladesh have finished as runner-up twice.
