Helmand defeated Kandahar A by 2-0 in the third day of the Afghan Premier League’s (APL) Southwest Regional Tournament in Ahmad Shahi Stadium in Kandahar province on Friday.
The second match of the day was played between Kandahar B and Nimroz which ended in a draw result of 2-2.
At least 26 best players will be selected for Da Maiwand Atalan, which will then take part in the sixth annual Afghan Premier League tournament in Kabul later this summer.
The teams are divided into two groups – Group A and Group B.
In the first match of the tournament on Wednesday, Kandahar A defeated Uruzgan by 4-0 while the second match between Kandahar B and Zabul saw Kandahar B defeat Zabul 8-0.
Two matches are played each day at the Ahmad Shahi Stadium in Kandahar.
On Thursday, the first match of the day, saw Kandahar A defeat Helmand by 2-0.
The tournament will continue for four days.
