Azerbaijan's Embassy Will Soon Start Operating in Kabul: Mujahid

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, announced the imminent opening of an Azerbaijan embassy in Kabul.

Mujahid told TOLOnews that the preliminary talks about this werre made with the Azerbaijani authorities.

The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate said: “Good relations have been established between the two countries, it's beneficial for the people, and also the diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan will officially begin soon."

He also stated that some countries, including Kazakhstan, want to expand their diplomatic relations with Afghanistan.

Earlier, Azerbaijan's ambassador to Afghanistan handed over to the acting foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, an official letter announcing Azerbaijan's intention of opening an embassy in Kabul.

So far, no country has recognized the Islamic Emirate, but the officials of the Islamic Emirate have stated that 17 representative offices of other countries are currently active in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi, quoting Ilham Mohammadov, the Azerbaijani ambassador in Afghanistan, wrote that he said in a meeting with the deputy foreign minister of the Islamic Emirate, Sher Muhammad Abbas Stanikzai, that Azerbaijan is ready for all-round cooperation with Afghanistan.

A number of analysts consider the opening of Azerbaijan's embassy in Kabul beneficial in the field of expanding political and diplomatic relations.

"The reopening of embassies, including Azerbaijan's embassy in Afghanistan is mostly due to gaining the economic interests from Afghanistan, but it can be effective in the direction of the interaction of the economic interests of the people of Afghanistan and also the expansion of political and diplomatic relations,” said Najib Rahman Shamal, an international relations analyst.

"Any country that interacts with Afghanistan while maintaining respect, and respects the interests of both countries, this can be beneficial in all fields and will gradually expand its scope and reach the regional level," said Mohammad Afzal Habib Safi, a political analyst.
