Efforts to Expand Activities of Italian Embassy in Afghanistan

Natalia Quintavalle, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Italian Embassy for Afghanistan, has announced efforts to expand the embassy's activities in the country during a meeting with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister.

The Foreign Ministry has written in a statement that bilateral cooperation between the countries and the Islamic Emirate were also discussed in this meeting.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: "The two sides discussed within the framework of the United Nations, the Doha meeting about Afghanistan, the upcoming meeting, bilateral and multilateral cooperation with countries and Afghanistan, and the expansion of the Italian Embassy's activities in Afghanistan with each other."

According to Takal, Muttaqi said in this meeting that the gate of interaction of the caretaker government is open to all countries and challenges must be shared directly with the caretaker government.

Meanwhile, the Administrative and Financial Deputy of the Foreign Ministry, in a meeting with the Chinese ambassador, called the relations between Kabul and Beijing significant and emphasized on expanding relations between the two countries. According to the Foreign Ministry, the Chinese ambassador in this meeting considered security and stability in the region in the interest of all regional countries including China.

"The Islamic Emirate is not recognized by regional countries including Western countries, and the expansion of these relations is ambiguous in what framework these relations have expanded," Rashid Qutbzada, an international relations analyst, told TOLOnews.

The Chargé d'Affaires of the Italian Embassy for Afghanistan met with Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Islamic Emirate's deputy prime minister for administrative affairs, yesterday (Wednesday) and had discussions on implementing projects in health, water, and bilateral relations with Afghanistan.
