The Turkish Education Foundation aims to expand its educational centers in Afghanistan.

Nevzat Şimşek, a member of the organization who traveled from Ankara to Kabul, tells TOLOnews that they are striving to enhance educational provisions for Afghan citizens.

He emphasized that in the near future, Afghan-Turkish schools will be reopened in several remote provinces of Afghanistan.

Nevzat Şimşek, a board of trustees member of the Turkish Education Foundation, stated: “Currently, we are active in eight provinces of Afghanistan. We try to expand our activities based on the plans that the Afghan Maarif Foundation sends us. I do not want to mention the provinces at this moment, but we plan to increase our schools in several provinces.”

This member of the Turkish Education Foundation added that most of their activities are in Islamic countries, and are focused on providing educational opportunities.

Nevzat Şimşek said, “Our goal is to raise good individuals in society and educate children from an early age to master current-century technologies and use them to bring honor to their community.”

Some educators say that Turkey can be a good partner in education with Afghanistan.

Zaki Mohammadi, a university professor, said: “We appreciate the activities of the Afghan-Turkish school and ask them to make great efforts to improve their quality and to provide staff to Afghanistan that we can benefit from.”

Sayed Moqadam Amin, an expert on political issues, said: “If Turkey wants to invest in the educational system or at least provide the infrastructure, it is naturally to the benefit of the country.”

According to the Turkish Education Foundation, Afghanistan ranks second among fifty-two countries worldwide where the foundation is more actively involved in educational activities.
