12 Taliban Insurgents Killed in Jawzjan Clashes

At least 12 Taliban insurgents were killed in clashes with security forces in northern Jawzjan province, local officials confirmed on Sunday.
 
In addition, eight other insurgents were wounded.
 
The clashes started on Saturday in Aqcha district of the province after Taliban insurgents launched an attack and security forces “responded killing 12 insurgents,” a spokesman for the provincial governor, Mohammad Reza Ghafoori said.
 
“One security force member was also killed and two others were wounded. The [security] forces have also cleared four villages so far but the clashes are still ongoing in some parts of the district,” Ghafoori said.
 
However, he did not provide further details.
 
The Taliban has not yet commented.
