3 TOLOnews Staff Among 5 Recipients of Afghanistan Media Award

The Afghanistan Journalists Center introduced the winners of the eleventh annual "Afghanistan Journalist of the Year 1402" award during a program held in Brussels, Belgium.

Five individuals, including three journalists from TOLOnews, were jointly awarded the Afghanistan Journalist of the Year by the center.

Two reporters and a TV presenter from TOLOnews, Mitra Majeedy, Nasir Ahmad Salehi and Faridullah Mohammadi respectively, won the award.

The event took place on the 5th of April in the city of Brussels, Belgium.

According to Ahmad Quraishi, the head of the Afghanistan Journalists Center, more than fifty media outlets and freelance journalists from Afghanistan participated.

Quraishi said about the competition: "Some Afghan journalists were introduced and honored as the winners of the eleventh round of the Afghanistan Journalist of the Year award during a ceremony in Brussels, the capital of Belgium."

Meanwhile, journalists welcomed the organization of such competitive programs and called for more support for journalists. These journalists also criticized the lack of timely access to information and they called on the interim government to support journalists and media outlets in the country.

Mohammad Raqib Fayaz, a journalist, said: "Programs that are organized to encourage journalists by various institutions are very good and beneficial for motivating journalistic work in Afghanistan, and we welcome them."

The annual Afghanistan Journalist of the Year award is presented every year in conjunction with National Journalist Day in the country.
