Casualty Toll Climbs After Deadly Kabul Bombing

The Ministry of Health has confirmed at least 19 people were killed and over 300 wounded in Wednesday’s truck bombing in down town Kabul.

The explosion occurred at about 8.30am, in rush hour traffic, in the heart of the diplomatic zone.

Explosives were believed to have been placed in a water tanker and were detonated close to the German embassy and Roshan telecommunications company.

Dozens of ambulances have been shuttling wounded to a number of hospitals across the city since the explosion.

Foreign troops were also reportedly on the scene soon after the incident.

Buildings in the vicinity sustained substantial damage with many having had windows blown out.

CEO Abdullah Abdullah has condemned the attack and said: “We want peace but those who kill us during Ramadan, are not worthy of peace. They must be destroyed and uprooted.”
