Ghani Off To New York For UN General Assembly

President Ashraf Ghani will leave Kabul for New York on Sunday to attend the 72th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The statement said the president would be accompanied by the acting foreign minister Salahuddin Rabbani .

The president would also deliver a speech at the assembly and he would meet with heads of the states attending the event, the statement added.

This will be the first trip for Ghani to the United States after the Trump administration’s inauguration. 

The Presidential Palace has not released any further details about Ghani's schedule while in the US.
