Ireland Beats Afghanistan In 4th ODI, Leveling Score 2-2

Ireland cruised to a 3-wicket win in the fourth One Day International (ODI) against Afghanistan in Greater Noida in India on Wednesday leveling the score 2-2 in the 5-match series.

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a target of 221 for the Irish team.

The Irish however cruised to victory thanks to Kevin O’Brien’s all-round performance.

Ireland kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but a 66–run stand between Gary Wilson and O’Brien for the seventh wicket bailed their side, keeping the series alive.

For his 4 for 26 and 72 not out, O’Brien was awarded Man of the Match.

In Afghanistan’s innings, Mohammad Shahzad was partnered by Usman Ghani, instead of Noor Ali Zadran, at the top.

Cricket Country reported that the ploy backfired as the openers made the long walk back to the hut within 3 overs.

O’Brien struck in the first over to remove Shahzad for 0.

The two teams will face each other on Friday in their final, deciding match in their 5-match series.
