Qari Munib, a key facilitator of Daesh was killed in a counter-terrorism operation carried out by Afghan and NATO forces in eastern Afghanistan, a press release issued by Presidential Palace said on Thursday. 

The operation was carried out nine days ago, the press release said.     

He was responsible for attacks on civilians in Achin district in Nangarhar, protesters in Dehmazang and Baqir-ul-Olum Mosque in Kabul, the Presidential Palace said.

The operation is part of activities taken under President Ghani’s order and the National Security Council’s decision aimed at recognizing, chasing and eliminating senior members of terrorist groups, the press statement said.

“Those like Qari Munib, committing crimes against our people will be brought to justice,” Ghani said.
