Outcome Of Dostum Guards Investigation To Be Revealed Next Week

The Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah’s office on Thursday said the results of the investigations into the actions of seven bodyguards of the First Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum will be announced to the media next week.

“The investigations started yesterday [Wednesday]. The Attorney General’s Office is working on it. The results will be shared with you when the investigations are completed,” the Chief Executive’s deputy spokesman Jawed Faisal said.

Meanwhile, the head of Afghan Youth Movement, Kanishka Turkistani, a close aide to Dostum, said the seven bodyguards have returned home after answering to attorneys. They are not in custody.

“A claim has been made. They [the bodyguards] were only investigated. As you know, no one can be kept in custody as long as a claim is unproved. They [the guards] have answered to a letter which was sent to them,” Turkistani said.

He added that the claims against Dostum’s guards will never be proved.

This comes after the seven bodyguards of Dostum appeared at the Attorney General’s Office following a reported siege on the first vice president’s house which continued for hours on Tuesday.
