Daesh Radio On Air Despite MOAB Bomb

Residents of eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday said Daesh radio has continued to broadcast its propaganda in the province and that every evening theradio station airs anti-government programs.

Nangarhar residents said Daesh radio programs are “horrible and disgusting”.

The radio started broadcasting a year ago, but Nangarhar residents said in the past few days all the radio has focused on is the MOAB bomb that was dropped by U.S Forces in Achin district of Nangarhar on Thursday night.

“If the radio broadcasts are not stopped, it will have negative consequences,” said Guli, a Nangarhar resident.

“Daesh radio station broadcast anti-government propaganda and it has a bad effect on the society,” said Ali Jan, another Nangarhar resident.

Security forces have regularly claimed to have targeted the radio station but according to residents the broadcasts continue.

“Although today the youths know the truth and do not listen to Daesh propaganda, but there is still the need to stop the radio station,”said Zabihullah Zmarai, a member of Nangarhar provincial council.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) meanwhile said security forces are trying to shut down the radio station.

“We have stopped the radio propaganda three times so far, but it once again has started its propaganda from the other side of the border. We are trying to stop the radio station,” Mohammad Radmanesh, MoD deputy spokesman said.

However, sources told TOLOnews that Daesh radio is a mobile unit and the group broadcasts their programs from Mohmand Dara area which was bombed by U.S forces.
