Lack of Coordination Affecting Baghlan Operation

Abdul Hai Nemati, the governor of northern Baghlan, on Thursday said that the lack of coordination between security forces in the area is one of the key reasons behind the surge in security threats in the province.

Nemati expressed hope that the security forces will turn things around and defeat the Taliban in the area.

This comes one month after Afghan security forces launched a major anti-Taliban operation in Dand-e-Ghori district of Baghlan in northern Afghanistan in their bid to clear the volatile region of insurgents.

However security forces so far have not been able to achieve their objectives.

Taliban also seized two Afghan National Army (ANA) check posts in the area and have controlled them for the past month. One is in Mangalha and the other in Alawuddin.

Reports from the battlefronts indicate that Taliban insurgents have been using residential areas during their onslaughts against security forces.

“I thought that the operation will be launched with full force, but we hear firing and see tanks around, the government forces have the latest equipment, but they have not advanced even one step,” said a resident of Baghlan Daud.

“The last order is that we should have made achievements in 24 hours; every brother must stand and join hands and support their personnel,” said MoD delegation chief General Shurgul.
