At least six Taliban insurgents were killed in a clash with security forces in northern Faryab province on Tuesday morning, local officials said on Wednesday.
In addition, a number of other insurgents were injured.
The clash started early Tuesday in Pashton Kot district of the province after a group of insurgents attacked a police check post, a spokesman for the provincial police chief, Karim Yourish said.
“The clash lasted for a few hours and the security forces were able to thwart the insurgents attack,” Yourish said.
However, he did not provide more details about the clash nor about casualties among the police.
