The Taliban shadow district governor for Nerkh district of Maidan Wardak province, Mullah Bashir known as Mullah Fato, was killed in an operation by the Afghan Police's Special Forces Unit in the province, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

According to the ministry during the operation two other armed Taliban fighters were wounded and ammunition and weapons were seized, MoI said.

No more details were provided about the operation.
