Death Toll In Kabul Attacks Rise To 22

Taliban insurgents on Wednesday launched a number of coordinated attacks on security installations in Kabul, injuring dozens of people including women and children.
 
Security officials, a Taliban suicide bomber detonated his explosives near PD6 Police Headquarters and a military school in Kabul city on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Another explosion happened in Kabul's PD12 in Arzan Qeemat area following the first blast in PD6.
 
Medics at Istiqlal hospital in Kabul have said that the condition of at least ten of the wounded people is critical.
 
28 injured persons, including three women and three children, were moved to Istiqlal hospital.
 
“We were in our office when we heard a big explosion. We took our weapons after the first blast and were on our way out of the office, when the second blast occurred. I did not know what happened next. When I opened my eyes, I was in hospital,” said Amir Mohammad, head of technical department at PD6.
 
In response to the attacks, the presidential palace said that today’s attacks on Kabul were carried out by the terrorists in coordination with their foreign masters.
 
According to the presidential palace, few days ago in northern province of Kunduz and because of their setbacks in other regions of Afghanistan.
 
Lt. Gen. Charles Cleveland, spokesman to NATO support mission has also denounced today’s attacks by the Taliban as horrific.
 
 “We are condemning yet another senseless and absolutely indiscriminate act by the Taliban, an act of violence which is clearly causing more pain and suffering to the people of Kabul. The attacks are a shameful, regardless of what you hear. There is absolutely no justification,” he said.
 
The Taliban insurgents have claimed responsibility for the attacks. The Taliban said that a massive toll was inflicted on the Afghan forces in today’s attacks.
 
Security sources at the National Directorate of Security (NDS) have said that one person was killed in the suicide attacks on NDS compound in PD12.
 
NDS sources say two attackers stormed the compound.
 
“First there were some gunshots, and then a huge explosion followed,” said eye witness Baloch.
 
“We were on the street when the explosion occurred. Then there was widespread gunfire. Security forces came in swiftly and cordoned off the area to traffic and asked people to stay away,” said another eye witness Humayoun.
