The project will be implemented in the next two and half years.

“The 220 KV electricity cable extension project from Ghazni to the  east of Kandahar, a distance of 350 Km, will be funded by USAID,” said Qudratullah Delawari, chairman of Breshna Sherkat.

Meanwhile, the director of the Indian company, KNS, said the project will be implemented on time.

“We are present in 66 countries, but Afghanistan is a very special place for us. Because we have not only made projects here, but we also have made friends,” said Pankaj Kumar Tandon, director of the company.

The agreement on the power line from Ghazni to east of Kandahar follows on the signing of a contract for the Bamiyan solar power project producing 10 Megawatt solar power in Kandahar. It is to be the biggest solar power project in Afghanistan.
