‘New Governor For Balkh Will Have Negative Repercussions’

Jamiat-e-Islami Party on Tuesday said in reaction to the Independent Directorate of Local Governance’s (IDLG) remarks over Atta Mohammad Noor’s fate that the appointment of a new governor for Balkh province without a political agreement will have numerous negative consequences.

Jamiat-e-Islami party’s remarks came after IDLG had said the new governor for Balkh, Engineer Dawood, will soon start his work.

Zabi Fetrat, deputy spokesman for Jamiat-e-Islami party said they are in talks with the presidential palace over Noor’s issue not with the IDLG.

Fetrat also rejected Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullahs’ remarks on him having shared the news regarding the approval of Atta Mohammad Noor’s resignation with the party and said Abdullah was not honest in this regard.

“It will cause much damage and I am sure that Afghan government will never take such action,” Fetrat said.

Head of Balkh provincial council Afzal Hadeed also said Abdullah has played a big role in the approval of Atta Mohammad Noor’s resignation.

“It is clear for us that CEO Abdullah Abdullah somehow wanted to exonerate himself in this regard,” said Hadeed.

Meanwhile a number of residents of Mazar-e-Sharif city said the continuation of tension between the presidential palace and Noor, who was ousted by President Ashraf Ghani, has affected their lives negatively.

Allah Nazar, 65, who is a laborer said in the last week he did not get any work.

“There are no jobs and they are in conflict with each other,” Allah Nazar said.

“These tensions can benefit the enemy,” Omid, a resident of Mazar-e-Sharif said.
