Govt Criticized For ‘Naming Inexperienced Nominees’

Nominated ministers for the ministries of defense, interior, work and social affairs, mines and petroleum and transport on Saturday delivered their plans to the Wolesi Jirga (the Lower House of Parliament.)

MP Ramazan Bashardost criticized the government for introducing inexperienced nominees.

“None of them has work experience. They have sent the butcher for carpentry and the carpenter to the butcher shop,” said Bashardost.

One of the nominees, acting defense minister Tariq Shah Bahrami, said Taliban and Daesh were being supported by regional intelligence and that by differentiating between these two groups and the enemies of Afghan people is a mistake.

He added that over 16 000 insurgents have been killed or wounded in the last few months.

Interior ministry nominee Wais Ahmad Barmak meanwhile said corruption and interference of the politicians in the affairs of the interior ministry is a challenge.

“Existence of big corruption in the interior ministry and politicians’ influences are the main challenges at the ministry,” Barmak said.

Barmak also said in the next six months no one will be allowed to carry weapons without a license. People have always complained of the appearances of irresponsible armed men.

“Those who use the weapons illegally, have to come to the ministry and register their weapons,” Barmak added.

The nominated ministers will deliver their plans to the parliament in the current week and in the next week, the MPs will vote on the nominees.
