Jawzjan Nomads Seek Aid and Permanent Shelter

A number of nomads living on the outskirts of Sheberghan city, the center of Jawzjan province, are facing serious challenges due to unemployment and poverty.

They are asking the caretaker government and aid agencies to construct permanent shelters for them and to provide humanitarian assistance.

The Pul-e-Khorasan River on the outskirts of Sheberghan city is home to dozens of nomadic families lacking basic living facilities.
"Our demand is that a medical center be built in this area and drinking water be provided for us as no attention has been paid to this place so far," said Tawakal Qaryadar, a representative of the nomads.

"We are incapable of providing facilities for ourselves in this area. Attention must be paid to provide us with drinking water," said Noor Mohammad, a resident of Jawzjan.

"We don't even have a proper shelter; the government should provide us with shelter and also build schools and medical centers," said Hekmatullah, another resident of Jawzjan.
According to the nomads, the lack of clean drinking water and medical centers is another challenge they face.

Local officials in Jawzjan acknowledged the nomads' challenges in the province and pledged to address their demands.
"The problems faced by these people have been communicated to the officials, and, God willing, it is planned to be addressed," said Gholam Nabi Samim, the head of Borders, Ethnicities, and Tribes in Jawzjan.

The nomads in Jawzjan criticized the previous government's lack of attention, saying that despite numerous promises, the past government did not address their challenges.
