Kandahar Farmers Collected 360,000 Kg of Wool in Past Solar Year

The Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock in Kandahar has announced that approximately 360,000 kilograms of wool has been collected from 13 districts of the province over the past year.

According to the directorate, this amount of wool was obtained through 43 wool processing centers, and efforts are currently underway to market it.

Mohammad Hamed, the Livestock Manager of the Kandahar Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock, said: "We are striving to provide livestock owners with the opportunity to export their products abroad and solve their challenges."

Mohammad Masood Mohammadi, a representative of the Netherlands Committee in Afghanistan, said: "Last year, we collected about 360,000 kilograms of wool from 13 districts of Kandahar, from 43 production centers."

However, livestock owners in Kandahar are complaining about the lack of a suitable market for selling their livestock products.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands Committee is training dozens of livestock owners from the provinces of Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, and Helmand in standard wool collection methods.

Mohammad Naser, a livestock owner, said: "Our only request is that the export of wool from our country to foreign countries be facilitated."

Mohammad Akbar, another livestock owner, said, "Our district is very remote. Here, we need an animal treatment center and wool production centers to be established."

According to available information, the Kandahar Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock has imposed restrictions on the import of wool from abroad to support livestock owners, which has positively affected the price of domestic wool.
