Afghanistan U19 Cricket Team Lost To Australia In WC Semifinals

Australia beat Afghanistan by 6 wickets early Monday in their U19 ICC World Cup semifinals in New Zealand. 

Afghanistan U19 had won the toss and elected to bat first.
 
Afghan player Ikram Ali Khil scored 80 runs from 119 balls for Afghanistan. 
 
Mujeeb Zadran with 12 runs from 16 balls remained not out.
 
Afghanistan made 181 runs in 48 overs and set a target of 182 for Australia.

Jono Merlo, Australia’s bowler, took four wickets for his team.
 
In the second inning of the match, Jack Edwards from Australia made 72 runs for his team and turned the match in his team’s favor.
 
Afghanistan’s Mujeeb took the first wicket and Qais Ahmad got the second wicket. 
 
Naveen-ul-Haq the Afghan captain, got the third wicket for Afghanistan. 
 
This was a key wicket for Afghanistan as they got Jack Edwards out after he notched up 72 runs. 

Jack Edwards, was named as the player of the match.
 
Australia U19 won the match by 6 wickets.
 
“We were 40-50 runs short. We had a couple of wickets down the leg-side, one was not-out I think. that's part of the game. Proud to have them in the game,” Naveen-ul-Haq, Afghanistan’s captain said.
 
Australia last played Afghanistan at under-19 level in a 2014 World Cup group-stage clash, and lost by 36 runs.
 
Australia by beating Afghanistan has secured their spot in the U19 ICC World Cup finals. 
 
Earlier, Afghanistan U19 beat New Zealand by a resounding 202 runs in their quarterfinal match.
 
New Zealand, who had been on a winning streak after advancing to the semifinals unbeaten in their group matches was left disappointed on their own ground.
