NIMA ROOZ: Breast Cancer Can Be Treated In Kabul

The public health ministry said in the past eight months 2,000 women who had breast cancer had been referred to Kabul’s only breast cancer treatment center.

According to the ministry, 70 percent of the referred patients had advanced cancer.

Public health ministry said one of the reasons that breast cancer patients do not go to hospital is because of the costs involved and also because hospital staff are not skilled to provide cancer awareness training to patients.

Meanwhile one cancer patient being treated at the hospital urged women with breast cancer to seek medical help at the center as soon as possible.

In this episode of Nima Rooz, host Massoud Malik discusses the topic with Dr. Zabi Stanekzai, the head of the cancer diagnostic department at Jamhuriat Hospital in Kabul.
