Afghan Football Champions League Launches 3rd Season, Includes Foreigners

The third season of the Afghanistan Football Champions League officially kicked off in Kabul.

In the inaugural match of the tournament, the team Abu Muslim Farah triumphed over Sarsabzyashlar Faryab with a decisive 2-0 victory.

The third season of the Afghan Football Champions League has started with the participation of 12 teams, including several foreign players from Iran, Nigeria, and Pakistan.

Mohammad Yousuf Kargar, President of the Afghanistan Football Federation, said: “Football progresses when there is a regular league. Fortunately, the third season of the Afghan Champions League is distinct from previous sessions and has been conducted according to Asian standards.”

The head of the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sport, Ahmadullah Wassiq, said: “The Islamic Emirate and the Physical Education and Sport department support all sports disciplines in the country, especially football, and we have always facilitated the development of this sport.”

Abdul Qayoom Sapand, the coach of the Abu Muslim team, remarked: “This game was quite challenging for us since it was the opening match and we did not fully know the opposing team. Some of our players were overwhelmed, but we had anticipated a victory and achieved it.”

Participants in the third season of the Afghan Football Champions League shared their views on the significance of these competitions.

Farzad Atai, a member of the Abu Muslim Farah team, said: “We won the game and will play better in the upcoming matches. With the plans and strategies that our technical staff have, God willing, we will win the upcoming games by a large margin.”

Abdullah Shah, another member of the Abu Muslim Farah team, said: “Along with me, two other national players from Pakistan, Shaiq Dost and Zain-ul-Abedin, were also present. Today was our first game, and we played well, the weather was great, the fans cheered us on vigorously, and I am confident that the championship will be ours.”

Additionally, on the first day of the competition, dozens of football fans came to the main stadium of the Football Federation to support their favorite teams.
