Afghanistan To Face Scotland In ODI Series On Monday

Afghanistan and Scotland cricket teams will contest two One Day International (ODIs) fixtures, which will take place at The Grange in Edinburgh on Monday 4 and Wednesday 6 of July.

According to a statement issued by Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), the Afghan National Cricket Team produced a number of impressive performances at the ICC World T20 earlier this year - which included overcoming Scotland in a tight encounter in Nagpur - as they progressed to the second round of the competition, beating the competitions eventual winners, West Indies.

The ACB announced the squad for the Scotland and Ireland tours last month.

According to the ACB, the team includes Mohammad Shahzad, Asghar Stanikzai, Shapoor Zadran, Noor Ali Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Rahmat Shah, Samiullah Shinwari, Rashid Khan, Yamin Ahmadzai, Gulbadin Naib, Dawlat Zadran, Hamid Hassan, Mirwais Ashraf, Jawed Ahmadi, Najibullah Zadran and Amir Hamza Hotak.

The reserve players include Nasir Jamal, Imran Jannat and Afsar Zazai.

Scotland Head Coach Grant Bradburn said on the announcement of the ODI's earlier in April that "Afghanistan have improved over the past year on the back of exposure to International cricket against full member nations. They fully deserve their current standing as one of the leading Associate nations, and we relish the chance to take them on at the Grange in July."
