Iran To Hold Military Drills Next Week Despite US Warnings

A senior commander announced Saturday that elite Revolutionary Guard is to conduct military drills next week, despite warnings from the U.S and fresh sanctions over a ballistic missile test, AFP reported.

"The manoeuvres called 'Grand Prophet 11' will start Monday and last three days," General Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the force's ground units at a press conference.

Rockets would be used without specifying which kind, according to Pakpour.

In early this month, Iran launched drills involving short-range missiles at a time of heightened tensions with the U.S.

Iran said that the exercises were aimed at demonstrating the country’s "complete preparedness to deal with the threats" and "humiliating sanctions" from Washington.

This comes while, the U.S President Donald Trump slapped fresh sanctions against Tehran's weapons procurement network following a ballistic missile test on January 29.
