Habibullah Badr: Islamic Emirate Holds 40 Foreign Citizens in Detention

The deputy head of the Office of the Prison Administration, Habibullah Badr, said that currently about 40 foreign citizens are being held by the Islamic Emirate.

Habibullah Badr said that these foreign nationals have been detained for committing various criminal offenses, and most of them are from neighboring countries.

"The number of foreign prisoners across Afghanistan in our custody has reached 40 -- those whose cases are criminal, including murder and other issues, and they are from various countries, including neighboring ones,” said Habibullah Badr.

A number of military and political affairs experts expressed their views on the issue of detaining foreign nationals in the country.

"The host country must deal with a prisoner, or a foreign citizen who is imprisoned for any reason, based on international laws,” said Sayed Moqadam Amin, a political analyst

"Every citizen is obligated to comply with all the domestic laws of any country they travel to,” said Mohammad Zalmay Afghanyar, a military analyst.

Previously, the military deputy of the Office of the Prison Administration stated in an exclusive interview with TOLOnews that 25 foreign nationals were being held in the prisons of the Islamic Emirate, and the spokesman for the Islamic Emirate also told TOLOnews that two American citizens were being held.
