29 People Died Due to Floods in Past Four Days

At least 29 citizens have died since last Wednesday due to floods sweeping across the country.

Janan Saiq, the spokesperson for the Ministry of State for Natural Disaster Management, said that many of the victims are from the provinces of Ghazni, Paktia, Jowzjan, Farah, Nimroz, Samangan, Parwan, Helmand and Nangarhar.

Seven others were injured in these events.

Saiq said, "As a result of the rains and floods, 29 of our compatriots have lost their lives, and another 7 have been injured."

The western provinces of the country have witnessed severe floods in recent days, causing significant loss of life and property damage to the residents of these provinces.

One of the affected individuals in Kandahar said, "Cars are still stuck, and there are patients inside these vehicles. They just called me now and said that two vehicles were damaged by the flood."

Another victim in Uruzgan told TOLOnews, "We all came out of our house with the children because the flood has leveled everything."

Shamsuddin, a victim in Jowzjan, referring to the floods said: "The flood has ruined many farmlands here. So far, no one has come to help."

Meanwhile, the Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock of the country stated that recent rains and floods have brought optimism and hope, yet they have also inflicted severe damage on farmers.

Mairwais Haji Zada, the deputy of the Chamber of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation, told TOLOnews, "The lands that have been destroyed belong to the farmers, who have suffered because their economic condition is weak. They don't have personal funds, and an assessment needs to be done to help the farmers."

In over ten days following the onset of floods in several provinces, 99 people have died, and more than 60 others have been injured.

On the other hand, the Meteorological Department of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation has stated that the provinces of Nangarhar, Laghman, Kapisa, Parwan, Panjshir, Baghlan, Takhar, Badakhshan, Kabul, Maidan Wardak, Bamyan, Daykundi, Uruzgan, Zabul, Ghazni, Paktika, Khost, Logar, and Paktia will experience rain and sudden floods tomorrow and the day after tomorrow (Sunday and Monday).
