At least four Taliban insurgents were killed in an Afghan security forces operation in southern Helmand province on Saturday, the provincial governor’s office said in a statement.
In addition, five other insurgents were wounded.
The operation was launched in Gereshk district of the province to clear the area of insurgents, according to the statement.
Officials also said “some weapons belonging to the Taliban were seized by security forces during the operation.”
However, the statement did not provide further details.
The Taliban has not yet commented.
