Enayatullah Shuja, the governor of Uruzgan, told TOLOnews that recent rainfall and ensuing floods in Tirinkot, the center of Uruzgan, have resulted in the death of at least three people.

According to Shuja, dozens of homes and hundreds of acres of agricultural land have also been destroyed in the recent floods, and several construction projects are at risk.

"The floods have destroyed roads, pathways, and the gardens and orchards of the people. According to the information we have received from the residents, the roads are still closed,” The governor added.

Residents and flood victims in Tirinkot are calling on the interim government and aid agencies for immediate assistance. Some of them stated that they have not witnessed such severe flooding in decades.

Atiqullah, a resident of Uruzgan, told a TOLOnews reporter, "It has caused us great damage. We only managed to save the children; there was a father and a daughter here, the daughter drawn in the flood."

Mohammad Aslam, another resident of Uruzgan, added, "The flood has taken homes, crop fields, and almond trees. It has destroyed several areas including the qanats."

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation has announced that the provinces of Badakhshan, Takhar, Kunduz, Baghlan, Kunar, Balkh, Panjshir, Parwan, Kapisa, Kabul, Logar, Paktia, Nuristan, Nangarhar, Laghman, Khost, Paktika, Zabul, Kandahar, Helmand, Uruzgan, Daykundi, Ghor, Herat, Farah, Nimroz, Badghis, Sar-e Pol, Bamyan, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Samangan, Jowzjan, and Faryab will experience rainfall and flooding on Saturday and Sunday (25th and 26th of Hamal).
