Two Women Die In Separate Suicide Incidents In Sar-e-Pul

Two women committed suicide on Friday in Sar-e-Pul, in separate incidents, local officials said Saturday. 

According to officials both appeared to have committed suicide due to family problems. 

Provincial governor spokesman Zabiullah Amani said that on Friday a 26-year-old woman took an overdose of tablets. She had problems at home, he said. 

Amani said the incident happened in Bazar Kami village of Sayyad district of Sar-e-Pul and that her husband, her father-in-law and her mother-in-law have been arrested. 

Amani said the woman had children but did not provide any details.  

According to Amani, in a separate incident, a 17-year-old girl also committed suicide on Friday by eating rat poison. She had lived in Kharaba village in the provincial capital.  

Amani said she had been engaged for three years but he did not provide further information. 

Meanwhile, Nasima Arozo, the head of Sar-e-Pul’s woman affairs department, said since the beginning of this solar year (March 2017), 40 women attempted to commit suicide while another four committed suicide.
