Islamic Emirate Leader Issues Directive on Money Services

The leader of the Islamic Emirate has issued a decree on how money service businesses and exchange offices should operate in the country.

According to this decree, exchange offices and money service businesses in the country are required to obtain a license, and those providing money services on the roads must also obtain an operation card.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, stated that the purpose of this directive is to improve the operation of exchange offices in the country.

Mujahid said: "By implementing this, we will be able to have good control over the exchange offices in the country, and it will prevent the damages and arbitrary actions that were affecting the economy."

Meanwhile, the Union of Money Exchangers has welcomed this directive, stating that it could regulate the operation of money service activities in the country.

Abdul Rahman Zirak, spokesperson for the Shahzada Money Exchangers Union, told TOLOnews: "Money smuggling is taken very seriously in this decree, prohibiting exchangers from illegally transferring money, especially US dollars, out of the country."

Some experts believe that the role of money service businesses in the country is influential and emphasize the need for their activities to be regulated.

Mirshakib Mir, an economist, told a TOLOnews reporter: "Undoubtedly, this matter can have a significant impact on the transparency of the exchange services offered and accountability in relation to issues related to anti-money laundering and the financing of terrorism."

According to information from the Shahzada Money Exchangers Union of Kabul, since the return of the Islamic Emirate to power in the country, approximately 1,000 companies across the country have obtained licenses to provide money services.
