Officials at the Academy of Science of Afghanistan said that a plan for the reopening of schools for girls above grade six is being discussed by Islamic Emirate officials.

Speaking at a press conference of the organization’s annual activities, the officials of the Academy of Science of Afghanistan, said that at least 46 projects of scientific research have been completed.

“The issue to which you have referred is a general issue. The Islamic Emirate has been considering this issue now and they are trying to find a solution for it,” said Rafiullah Niazai, head of the Secretariat of the Academy of Science of Afghanistan.

This comes as schools for female students beyond grade six have remained closed for more than 680 days.

He also said that at least 100 research projects are underway.

“At least 83 conferences about scientific research have been held. Six seminars of scientific research have been held. At least 33 books in various fields have been published,” Niazai said.

The deputy head of the Academy of Science of Afghanistan, Amir Jan Saqib, said that they are working to improve the capacity of academic areas in the country.

He also called on the academics who left the country to return.

 “Afghanistan also needs academics. The employees of the Academy of Science who were here before the Islamic Emirate came to power, still have their duties. We call on those who left the country to return to the country,” Saqib said.

Based on the figures of the Academy of Science of Afghanistan, in 1402, 30 books, articles and texts will be translated to Pashto and 50 types of books, articles and texts will be translated to Pashto.
