Execution Held in Stadium in Jawzjan

Local officials in Jawzjan province said that an execution -- a sentence of retribution for murder -- was carried out on Monday (February 26) in Sheberghan city.

According to officials, the execution followed the ruling of three courts and the approval of the leader of the Islamic Emirate.

“His case was processed for more than one year. After the ruling of three courts and the decree of the leader of the Islamic Emirate, all the evidence indicates that the perpetrator should be executed,” said Saifudin Mutasem, head of the department of information and culture of Jawzjan province.

Those who attended gave an account of the execution.

“We went to the stadium, there were about two thousand people, there were also local officials. The man was executed,” said Tawakal, a Jawzjan resident.

“In three courts, it was decided that he should be executed, so the Islamic Emirate executed him. The government officials asked the victim’s family to pardon the murdered, but they did not,” said Dadullaht, a resident of Jawzjan.

According to the Supreme Court, prior to the execution in Jawjzan, four people have been executed since the Islamic Emirate took power.
