The State Ministry for Disaster Management Affairs reported an increase in casualties from heavy rain and flooding over the past four days, with a total of 50 people now dead.

The ministry confirmed that another 36 people have been injured in these events.

The spokesperson also said that these events destroyed 700 acres of agricultural land and resulted in the loss of 400 livestock.

Janan Saiq, spokesperson for the State Ministry for Disaster Management Affairs, told TOLOnews: “As a result of the recent rains and floods, we have lost 50 compatriots and another 36 have been injured. In total, 706 homes have been destroyed, approximately 400 livestock have perished, and 1,606 homes have also been damaged by these floods.”

The floods have affected the provinces of Badghis, Uruzgan, Farah, Paktia, Zabul, Helmand, Kunar, Kabul, Badakhshan, Ghor, Kandahar, Takhar, and Parwan, claiming many lives.

Moreover, some of the flood victims have reported significant financial losses and are calling for attention to their challenges.

Sadiqullah, a resident of Helmand, told a TOLOnews reporter: “The floods have caused a lot of damage, costing us about 150,000 afghani in financial losses.”

Abdul Manan, a resident of Uruzgan, said, "Where can people go? When will you help us? Now the situation has deteriorated to the point where our rivers have dried up."

Prior to the latest flooding, the State Ministry for Disaster Management Affairs stated that natural disasters in the country have caused the deaths of 33 people and injured 27 others.
