At least 17 insurgents were killed in military operations conducted by Afghan forces in different parts of the country in past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a statement on Thursday.

Five other insurgents were injured in the operations, the ministry said.

The operations were carried out in Wardak, Uruzgan, Helmand, Kandahar and Laghman provinces, the statement said.

A number of weapons and two motorbikes were seized during the operations, the statement added.

The statement did not provide more details about the operations.
